It wouldn’t really be an obsession if I didn’t keep coming back to it right? Well tonight, Le Beau and I are going out to dinner and to see a production of God of Carnage. That means there will be no time to make something, so I decided to get up early and make something in the morning instead. I prepped a little last night because there is glue involved.
Today’s project is map magnets made from beer bottle caps and some map scraps left over from Day 11. I used an old save the date magnet I received last year and punched circles out of it. Fortunately for me, my circle punch is exactly the same size as the bottle caps. I used craft glue to attach the magnets to the underside of the bottle caps. Then I punched out some map circles and placed them inside the bottle caps. Finally I used Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to fill them up.
This is one of those projects that did not turn out as planned. A few things went wrong. First, the magnet sheet is really too weak to hold anything up. Second (and I had a feeling this would happen) I didn’t affix the map circles to the inside of the bottle caps and the dimensional magic seeped in between the cutout and the cap. But I know what to do next time. Stay tuned for updates.
